I decided we needed a new guy at the helm (the Presidency of the USA) quite some time ago…it was probably 10 to 20 years ago. But at the time I was involved with other stuff, had my own life to lead, money to earn, business to run, family to care for and be responsible to (and for), and I thought others could manage politics; I didn’t like it, it was loud, obnoxious and confrontational, I didn’t really like arguments, even logical ones, and didn’t want anything to do with it. To begin with, I was like most Americans, I thought politics was stupid, best for somebody else to take care of, and wouldn’t hurt us very badly, no matter what the politicians did, or it didn’t matter how self-serving it was, it couldn’t hurt us that much, could it?
Little did I know how wrong I was. We are now standing at the edge of an enormous chasm, an abyss (so to speak). In 2009 the world-wide financial system very nearly collapsed. It was so bad that it was said it actually did collapse; and it was only brought back to life (barely) in the nick-of-time by a massive flood of cash, printed in the USA, and dumped into the world’s financial markets to push the free flow of liquid cash assets. Even then, it still stayed stuck; it was so bad that President Bush declared it an emergency, the presidential campaign had to be interrupted and temporarily suspended, both President Bush and President-Elect Obama had to scramble all the money and chits they could call in just to save the ship from sinking. This was primarily the fault of the USA and it’s system of oversight; after all the US Dollar is the world’s “reserve currency” and we have the biggest economic engine on the planet; not to mention USA has one-quarter of the world’s entire economy, $15 Trillion Dollars of annual GDP. How could we not have a lion’s share of the blame? I didn’t understand it at first. After five books, a documentary movie, many, many articles, innumerable questions and tons of discussions, I figured it out. It was the crooks of capitalism who did this…the politicians, the bankers, the big corporations, the lawyers…it was a glitch…they did it to enrich themselves, without a thought of any consequences for anybody else. It’s somewhat complicated and covered by numerous contraptions of layers of “smoke and mirrors,” it’ll be hard to explain, but now I know exactly what happened and I’ll tell you all about it. Everybody thinks it was the housing bubble, a housing mortgage scam (derivatives, SWAPs, sub-prime mortgage crisis), an effort to buy votes or influence dependency through voters, an artificial way to expand the economy…it wasn’t any of that (although those things contributed). Some think it was Europe’s heavy social obligations (or the rest of the world) to satisfy constituents; it wasn’t that either. What it was – was a huge liquidity crisis…cash just locked up in the pipes…how did that happen? How can this happen? Can it happen again? What are the consequences? It definitely legitimatizes the “Occupy Wall Street” protest, in fact, maybe it was way too low key…but it was ignored out of existence…now we need it again…but in a new, better and much more expansive and powerful way, eh? What we need is a President that understands this stuff.
I thought, “What a great way to get thoughts and ideas out to millions of people…just run for President, put your ideas on the Internet and they will flock to read your stuff.” Unfortunately, this is not true. People on the Internet don’t “flock to anything.” lf you want your stuff to be read…it’s a lot of hard work…unless, for some unknown reason, you can go “viral.” But that isn’t so easy either. If it was, lots of people would be wealthy from selling the secret. There is no secret. Something has to catch on to go “viral”…there are tons of people scraping the barrel right now trying to find the “something” that catches on so easily. I should be so lucky.
But what is the “Game?” What do I mean by the “Power of the Game?” For that we need a new posting, called…”The Game.”
For now, all I need to tell you is: I want a game because I’m looking for the “hook” that will grab and hold participants. In order to solve World-Class problems, we need a huge following…actually more than just followers, they must be participants, active players. Governments only work because they have hundreds of millions of citizens that can be asked, coerced, or forced to do what the government needs. But governments have a huge tragic flaw…they are biased, they reflect belief structures that are local, they aren’t universal…the basic ‘world-citizen’ doesn’t have this problem. World-Citizens can participate freely and without regard to national, or historical influences; they are only concerned with problems that the world faces…but we need the numbers necessary, sufficiently large enough, to impress others, and influence governments and more participants. Games have that potential, maybe not by themselves, but in combination with other things, like shared credit for really making a dent in real globbal affairs. Is it possible that “we” the people can succeed in righting our Earth. We need a truly huge common effort…we need to solve the World’s Energy Problem, the World’s Food Problem, the World’s Water Problem, the World’s Health Problem, The World’s War Problem, The World’s Trust Problem, The World’s Education Problem…and it’ll take us, all of us, as many of us as possible, to gather under one banner, to attempt this…we are the World-Citizens, we want to fix our planet…and governments are in-our-way.
