ScumBall Politics, Our Fault? Really?

So far, all I’ve heard…”politicians tell lies because the public wants ‘Red Meat,’ ‘If It Bleeds, It Leads,’ ‘Negative Ads Work’…’Lookit Obama, He’s Ahead, His Polls just Shot Up.’

Negative ads are one thing, down and dirty ads are another thing, but real low-ball, ad-hominem,  scum-sucking, head-slamming, lying attacks, shouldn’t even be allowed in the “ball-game,” (allowed?). The people of the USA are better than that…why do we want a scum-sucking President running the country?…and it’s obvious what I’m talking about. These guys raise a billion dollars EACH, just to sling crap (excrement) at each other…and we get all hot and sweaty on the sidelines, cheering them on…WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH US? DO WE DESERVE THE WORST OF THE WORST OF THESE WASTRELS  IN PUBLIC OFFICE? ARE THEY ONE OF US? I don’t think so. Americans are better than that. I’m sure the political class believes that the American people are all children, or idiots, and they believe we are incapable of taking care of ourselves. We, the American public,  actually believe in the best in people, even in the politicians…and even when it is not justified. Why isn’t there a referee we can call in to yell “Foul,” when we see these political hacks doing something “over-the-top,” degrading, or condescending. I can’t stand this stuff…I was an Eagle Boy Scout…there’s a lot to be said for the term “Boy-Scout-Honest.”  I was raised that way. I can’t put up with anyone who resorts to scum-ball tactics…that’s because they become what they are criticizing…acting like scum-balls too. Why can’t people see this? Is the whole country so put-off, that being remotely civil to one-another, or using a higher vocabulary (other than vulgar, attack, uncouth, insulting words) means absolutely nothing? And I don’t mean allowing this crap where a backhanded “sleight-of-hand” insult should able to cut it either. And I’m not talking about becoming so “politically correct” that no one understands what you mean…I think people should express themselves in as few as words as possible and in clear, unadorned terms. WE NEED AN OMBUDSMAN OF THE USA (our OOTUS). We need someone who can take the crap the politicians put out and explain it, rephrase it, tell the truth about it and be critical of the author if they’ve fragrantly abused their position (or that of the other guy).

So it’s all because of us, eh? We can’t hear the truth, if it isn’t tragic enough for us, it has to be made more colorful, brutal, throw some blood around…that’ll fix it. So we’re to blame for all these lies, all this rot gut, mud slinging politics. We’re too dumb to understand mere words…they have to be slanted, colored, painted in such a way so as to make them really say what they really MEAN. Some Super-Pac working for Barack Obama’s campaign accused Mitt Romney of “Killing” a woman because Romney put her husband out of work, causing his health insurance to lapse…she had cancer and died…this was all Romney’s fault for being in charge of the banking company that lent the company money so the business could keep running (and therefore keep her husband’s job, and their health insurance, which he then lost). It turns out that this was just a big lie. Romney wasn’t working in the job at the time this happened, the guy’s wife did have her own health insurance, Romney’s company’s earlier action actually saved the guy’s job…and the tragic part all transpired six years after the connection was broken. Now Obama’s campaign is deflecting this argument by quibbling over “what’s a lie” and who actually published it. WHERE’S OUR OOTUS?
